The wrap dress has been around a lot lately, and I finally got my hands on one. From ASOS no doubt, including the shoes people. You guys already know. I can’t seem to stay away from that site when choosing something to wear. It’s very hard for me. I guess it’s because I trust their products, next day delivery, free returns and all that. And I haven’t yet come across someone else wearing the same dress as me at the same time, so…touch wood.
Anyway onto the outfit. This is what I wore for my sister-in-law’s birthday dinner.
I tried to add a little colour with the blue tassel earrings that everyone has also been wearing lately too (I didn’t even know Topshop sold the same earrings until way after I’d bought mine). Don’t know if it worked though because of my long hair in the way.
Does anyone else have the problem of their wrap dress flapping open? It had to be windy that day. Thank God I had cycling shorts on underneath and that I got a lift to the restaurant that day. You’ve got to be extra careful with the peepshow.
These shoes! My new favourites by the way. Got them for my work Christmas party and wore them for four hours straight. It hurt like hell but they were just. so. pretty.
When I think of autumn, I imagine all of the gorgeous colours that come with it – the reds, browns and golden yellows that litter the floor in the form of fallen leaves.
I think that this season is all about colour, so I’ve put together my ideal autumn edit. I can’t wait to wear my knit jumpers and boots. But I have to say that scarves are my favourite. The variety of colour and styles you can get them in is so tempting. You just want them all. I actually have quite a few and I like to mix and match them with my outfit.
Mules! Whoever thought these would be back in fashion, eh? I remember wearing my mother’s black leather block-heeled mules around the house when I couldn’t be bothered to fetch my slippers from upstairs.
Now they are back and chicer than ever, and they have definitely grown on me. They come in different colours, patterns, with criss-cross details, low and mid heels. They are so comfortable and easy to walk in. They are perfect if you want to wear heels but don’t want to wear heels, if you catch my drift.
I bought these to complete my birthday outfit. How could I not? They were on sale at New Look for £10! I wanted to be comfortable and at ease. I didn’t mind not dressing up so much, seeing as part two of my birthday celebrations includes going to dinner on the day this post goes live. So I will dress up a little for that. A post about how I styled these mules for my birthday will be up next week.
This vibrant shade of blue is my favourite colour. I used to wear blue ALL. THE. TIME! My wardrobe was full of it. I have toned it all the way down, and now I only have four blue items in my wardrobe, including these mules.
What do you think of this summer trend? Do you own a pair of mules? If so, in what colour?
P.S This post is not sponsored. All opinions are my own.
I have no perfume left. My last and most treasured bottle (one of two of my favourite scents)—White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor—was thrown away at the airport because I packed over the limit of liquids allowed in a carry-on . Every girl has their go-to bottle and at the time, White Diamonds was mine. I had barely used it up. I was so disappointed.
A month later, I decided that it was time to get another perfume to use as my go-to scent. I chose Armani Diamonds Rose online without knowing what it smelt like. When I got to The Perfume Shop, I loved it. I’m not fussy with scents, but this seemed perfect for spring and summer. It’s fragrance is light and not overpowering at all.
Its top notes are: Blackcurrant, Raspberry and Bergamot. Its heart notes are: Lily of the Valley, Bulgarian Rose and Freesia Accord, and its base notes are: Patchouli, Ambret Seeds Accord and Woody Amber Accord.
This perfume was released in 2013, but I had never considered it until now. And I am loving it!
I don’t know about you, but I can’t leave my house without my charger. I just can’t risk my phone dying on me. I don’t have one of those power banks, so when I won this gold metallic phone charger wallet from a giveaway that Monica Awe-Etuk hosted on her blog, I realised just how convenient it is.
For me, this is more like a cute clutch bag. It has a charging station that clips to the inside of the bag and must be charged before use, just like a power bank. It is large enough to fit my phone inside (obviously) and a few necessary items, but not too much.
I love the gold metallic colour, although the wallet is now only available in blue and lavender online at JCPenney. It also has a detachable strap that makes it easier to hold when going out. I styled this bag with an outfit I wore to a wedding last Saturday, so look out for that post next week.
In other news, this time next Thursday I’ll be flying out to Portugal for my friend’s wedding. I can’t wait. There’ll be a lot of firsts for me – my first time in Portugal; my first wedding abroad; my first time flying by myself. I’m sure there’s nothing to it, but I’m a bit nervous. My husband can’t come because of a pre-booked course he has to attend on the Sunday that I’ll be flying back. It will be too close to call, so he decided not to risk it.
I will miss him so much, but I know that I have to do this to overcome my fear. I went into a state of panic when he realised he wouldn’t be able to make it, but I had to tell myself that I can do this. People fly alone every day; if they can do it, why can’t I? I will let you all know how it goes.
My dress for the wedding arrived yesterday. I tried it on and I love it! I can’t wait to do a post on it.
Enjoy your Thursday and have a great weekend. Until next week. 🙂
