Because it’s You

This post is so overdue, but not overdue. You see, I’m bringing to you my Christmas present from my parents, but I didn’t get it at Christmas. The hubby and I had planned to travel to Luton during the holidays, but it snowed there and my family were worried for us, so we didn’t go.

We were thankfully able to stay with them during the long Easter bank holiday weekend, which was so lazy and relaxing. Just what I needed.

Anyway, I am a person who would rather tell you what I want than you have no clue what to get me, or get me something that I don’t like. At least you can guarantee that I’ll be happy with it and both parties win. So, I sent my mum a selection of perfumes that I wanted and told her to pick one. She chose Because it’s You for her and Stronger With You for him by Emporio Armani for the hubby.

Because it’s You gift set

My mum chose the gift set for me which comes with a 50ml bottle, a cute travel-size bottle and a lip balm.

This fragrance is so beautiful. A little goes a long way; it can last a long time and I have been complimented whilst wearing it. The scent is feminine and fruity, and whenever I wear it I feel so special. I love scents that make me feel good and excited to wear them.

The top notes are: Raspberry, Blackcurrant and Neroli essence.

The heart notes are: Violet leaves accord, Rose Absolute, and Jasmin Sambac Absolute.

The base notes are: Patchouli essence, Vanilla Extract, Musks.

I judged the book by its cover with this lip balm. I was confused as to why a perfume gift set would come with lip balm in the first place, but this little gem won me over. It has the scent but it’s not overpowering. It also has a cool, numbing effect and is thick so you don’t need much.

I only wear perfumes this classy for special occasions and church, so that they last longer.

Have you tried Because it’s You?

Hot Pink Ankara

Hey guys!

Another wedding, another outfit post, am I right?

I got to have an outfit made out of this vibrant hot pink and gold ankara material for a friend’s wedding. I wanted a midi dress with bell sleeves, which I am loving lately, and here is the result.

I paired them with rose gold strappy heels. They were out of my comfort zone and a little more daring than I’m used to, but the more I looked at them, the more I liked them.

My husband got to use the material to make something too, so we went to Elom Doussey Tailoring, and he designed and hand made this shirt.

You can check out his Instagram page for more of his work.

I love getting to make whatever I want out of African material. It gives you a chance to be creative.

What do you think?

What’s in My Bag: Rose Gold Edition

DSC00261

I never thought I’d do a post like this, but I only recently realised that there is a colour scheme going on in my bag: rose gold.

I know this colour has been popular among millenials, but I didn’t think much of it until I found myself gravitating towards it whenever I had to choose something. Even my leaving card from my previous job was designed in black, white and gold because my friend said that she noticed those were the colours I wore the most (gold in accessories).

The two rose gold pouches are part of a trio that I impulse bought in Primark. It comes with a larger one, which I took with me to Paris (blog about my trip coming soon).

In the bigger pouch, I keep my larger essentials, such as body spray, deodorant, a hairbrush, hand cream and a discreet tin for sanitary towels/pantyliners. I take a lot of things to work with me, so it’s more organised to have them all in one place.

In the smaller pouch, I keep mints, a mirror, a pack of tissue, a Vaseline Lip Therapy tin and my travelcard when I’m not using it.

I specifically bought this purse for 2018. New year, new purse. It’s all about your mindset and how you see things, so there was no way I was starting 2018 with a crusty old purse.

For Christmas, I got a John Lewis gift card and some money, which I combined to purchase this Olivia Burton watch with a rose gold face. I love big face watches. I wanted something that I could wear for everyday use, but was still pretty. And voila, black and gold.

My Samsung Galaxy S7 is gold, and I bought this sparkly gold phone case a while ago. When my phone is not in my hand, I like to keep it in my bag, because I tend to feel like I’m addicted to it when I’m holding it but not using it.

What do you keep in your bag? Do you have a colour theme going on?

The little black wrap dress

The wrap dress has been around a lot lately, and I finally got my hands on one. From ASOS no doubt, including the shoes people. You guys already know. I can’t seem to stay away from that site when choosing something to wear. It’s very hard for me. I guess it’s because I trust their products, next day delivery, free returns and all that. And I haven’t yet come across someone else wearing the same dress as me at the same time, so…touch wood.

Anyway onto the outfit. This is what I wore for my sister-in-law’s birthday dinner.

Wrap dress – ASOS

Heels – ASOS

Earrings – H&M

I tried to add a little colour with the blue tassel earrings that everyone has also been wearing lately too (I didn’t even know Topshop sold the same earrings until way after I’d bought mine). Don’t know if it worked though because of my long hair in the way.

Does anyone else have the problem of their wrap dress flapping open? It had to be windy that day. Thank God I had cycling shorts on underneath and that I got a lift to the restaurant that day. You’ve got to be extra careful with the peepshow.

These shoes! My new favourites by the way. Got them for my work Christmas party and wore them for four hours straight. It hurt like hell but they were just. so. pretty.

Have a good day all!

The Autumn Edit

When I think of autumn, I imagine all of the gorgeous colours that come with it – the reds, browns and golden yellows that litter the floor in the form of fallen leaves.

I think that this season is all about colour, so I’ve put together my ideal autumn edit. I can’t wait to wear my knit jumpers and boots. But I have to say that scarves are my favourite. The variety of colour and styles you can get them in is so tempting. You just want them all. I actually have quite a few and I like to mix and match them with my outfit.

1. Brown single breasted coat

2. Yellow ribbed scarf (I have this!)

3. Red ribbed knit sweater (red is on trend this season)

4. High-waisted jeans

5. Brown ankle strap knee high boots

What will you be wearing this autumn?

Hey all. Sorry for the missed post on Monday. I didn’t have the chance to write the night before. But here’s one for you now.

My friend recently started a business called chevz_cases, which allows you to customise your phone case with the image, pattern or design of your choice.

I decided to give her a try and picked one of my wedding pictures as a design.

The process was surprisingly quick and within a few days, I had my phone case. When I opened the package, the vibrant colours dazzled me. It was a printing job well done.

I love my personalised case! I have had it for almost two months and there have been no problems with it.

Check out her Instagram page: chevz_cases or you can email her at chevzcases@hotmail.com.

What do you think of my phone case?

The shoes everyone is wearing this summer

DSC00008
Blue Suedette Heeled Mules

Mules! Whoever thought these would be back in fashion, eh? I remember wearing my mother’s black leather block-heeled mules around the house when I couldn’t be bothered to fetch my slippers from upstairs.

Now they are back and chicer than ever, and they have definitely grown on me. They come in different colours, patterns, with criss-cross details, low and mid heels. They are so comfortable and easy to walk in. They are perfect if you want to wear heels but don’t want to wear heels, if you catch my drift.

DSC00006

I bought these to complete my birthday outfit. How could I not? They were on sale at New Look for £10! I wanted to be comfortable and at ease. I didn’t mind not dressing up so much, seeing as part two of my birthday celebrations includes going to dinner on the day this post goes live. So I will dress up a little for that. A post about how I styled these mules for my birthday will be up next week.

This vibrant shade of blue is my favourite colour. I used to wear blue ALL. THE. TIME! My wardrobe was full of it. I have toned it all the way down, and now I only have four blue items in my wardrobe, including these mules.

DSC00011

What do you think of this summer trend? Do you own a pair of mules? If so, in what colour?

P.S This post is not sponsored. All opinions are my own.
