Birmingham Town Hall

Happy Monday everyone!

My husband and I had been invited to a wedding in Birmingham on the weekend. Because of the distance and not wanting to go up and come down on the same day, we—along with a few other friends—decided to make a road trip of it. There were five of us in the car. The two-hour drive was very entertaining—I have some very wacky friends, but I love them. I was in and out of sleep because of the early start, but couldn’t help getting woken up by the music they were blasting from the front.

The wedding was wonderful from start to finish. After an eventful day, staying in a hotel for the night was a nice treat. My favourite thing about getting away is hotels. I don’t know what it is about them. It’s just a different, more peaceful vibe compared to being at home, because you leave your responsibilities behind (for a little while) and get to enjoy the fact that someone else has gone to lengths to make you feel comfortable. Even my husband said that he slept well, which got me thinking about how important it is to take a break once in a while. And that’s the point of this post.

Unfortunately, this has been mine and my husband’s only getaway this year. We haven’t had much opportunity. We’re working hard to secure a good future for ourselves where money will be no object, but we’re not at that stage yet, so life is tough.

Despite that, it is vital to have a moment where you can leave everything behind and not have to worry about work and responsibilities just for a little while. It rejuvenates you and even makes you better able to face whatever you have to when you get back to real life.

The next day we had a full english breakfast before going to church, which is usually a myth for me because I’m a helper and have to wake up very early. And after the service, we went to eat at Buffalo and Rye to celebrate one of our friend’s birthday.

It was a great weekend and I’m glad I had that time away from London. I really like Birmingham; it’s a wonderful city. If you follow me on Instagram (mich.joseph), you would have seen my updates.

How was your weekend?

P.s Sorry for the bad quality pictures. They were all taken on my phone.

Mich x
